Concessionary Fares
Prior to the introduction of the English National Concessionary Travel Scheme we produced more than 30,000 ITSO-compatible smartcards for two of the four Concessionary Travel Authorities which produced passes outside of the DfT framework bureau service.

Smart Ticketing
We ardently believe in the use of technology in the transport industry. Smart ticketing schemes can enable tremendous flexibility, allowing operators the opportunity to employ innovative solutions to meet the needs of their passengers, whilst simplifying travel for the end user.
Smart ticketing can provide a foundation for the development of multi-product and multi-operator ticketing schemes, and we at Transept have provided project management and technical advice on the design, specification and introduction of ITSO compatible smart card schemes.
Our work has included:
- Working with the system suppliers and local operators to agree the technical specification for schemes;
- Working with local authority departments to ensure potential integration with non-transport products, in the style of a wider City Card project;
- Advising large private sector partners on issues related to in-house ‘point of sale’ machines for issuing Smartcards;
- Project management of the migration of non-smart schemes (for example, legacy concessionary fares passes) to ITSO compatible smartcards, and on-going administration of smartcard databases;
- Working with the local authority, operators and suppliers to establish and manage a set of product user databases.
